FAQs

1. Will this help me for gaming on my wifi?
Depends on how you use it, yes... If you're far from the Wi-Fi source and you set your system to connect to one of the new extended network names, it should help for sure.

2. Can you connect a computer via the ethernet through this?

This Extender is best utilized to reduce dead zones within home networks (when properly placed approximately halfway between your router and the area of low/no signal). You can absolutely plug your second computer into the extender with an Ethernet cable after you complete the initial setup.

3. Are you experiencing frequent disconnection from the Wi-Fi?

Make sure to check the below factors as all of these can greatly affect your Wi-Fi signals:

2.4 GHz interference
- Your router may be operating on the same frequency as your cordless telephone system or other nearby devices. Try to change your router’s channel to 1 or 11 (the default channel is 6) as these are considered non-overlapping channels. After changing channels, restart the Wi-Fi devices.

Physical obstructions
- Your Wi-Fi device may be losing connectivity because of physical obstructions such as walls and floors. Try to move your devices to a different location to find a better signal.

Placement of the router
- It is recommended that you place your router as high off the ground as possible. When placing the router in a high location, leave a distance of 2 feet between the router antenna tips, ceiling, and wall. If your signal passes through multiple floors, place the router on the uppermost floor, and high up in the room.

QUICK TIP
: The most ideal location for your router would be at the central part of your house.

4. The connection is inconsistent. It works one day, then it doesn't the next day. How can I get this resolve?

In your case, we would recommend relocating the unit to a position within your home where the router's Wi-Fi signal is sufficiently strong; yet far enough from the router to effectively extend its range.

5. Can I connect a switch to this for a wired printer upstairs to connect over wifi to the router downstairs?

Yes, you can connect wired devices to the extender's Ethernet port - including an Ethernet switch.

6. When using this extender, will I have to switch wi-fi signals manually when roaming around my house?

Please bear in mind that Wi-Fi roaming is purely a client (smartphone, TV, computer, tablet, etc.) decision. The wireless client is responsible for deciding it needs to roam, and then detecting, evaluating, and roaming to an alternative Wi-Fi source nearby.

7. Why is the signal good but cannot connect?

If you do not have Internet access after setting up your Extender, please re-verify your Wi-Fi password and re-configure the unit.
We also suggest relocating the extender to another position in your home where your router’s Wi-Fi signal is sufficiently strong; yet far enough from the router to effectively extend its range.

8. What exactly is matter?
Matter establishes a common basis for controlling smart home products. Lamps, thermostats, plug adapters, sensors and other components can be easily combined with each other in the future – as long as they comply with the new connection standard. This means that one and the same device works in different systems.
For example, an adapter that listens to Amazon Alexa works with Apple Home Kit, Google Assistant, Samsung SmartThings or another compatible solution as well. A matter function called Multi Admin even provides for simultaneous operation in multiple smart home systems. Accordingly, family or household members could operate the device with the digital assistant or smartphone app of their choice.

9. What is MU-MIMO?
Mu-MIMO allows a Wi-Fi router to communicate with multiple devices simultaneously. This decreases the time each device has to wait for a signal and dramatically speeds up your network.

10. Will matter replace other smart home systems?
No, because matter itself is not a smart home system. Although the technology connects devices in the home, it has little or nothing to do with their automation and control. Such tasks still require a higher-level system that is compatible with matter.
